While affinity networks have existed for over 30 years and exist in 90% of Fortune 500 firms, many see an opportunity to take their networks to the next level of maturity. This evolution of affinity networks involves integrating their group's efforts into the broader talent and business goals of the organization so that they have a relevant and sustainable business impact. The focus of this session is to share ideas and tools to help transition Affinity Networks and Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) into Business Resource Groups (BRGs) which are seen as true business partners.

Alan Partin

Alan  specializes in developing and nurturing client relationships. His career experience spans Finance, Healthcare, Insurance, Security, Sales and Marketing.  He is experienced and skilled in listening to and understanding his clients’ individual needs.

Prior to his role at PRISM, while working in the banking industry, Alan discovered the bottom line impact that can be achieved by leveraging a diverse workforce to meet marketplace goals. By implementing a comprehensive D&I process and starting a Hispanic sales force to address the needs of an emerging Hispanic market, he increased his department’s sales by 20% over a 2-year period. Because of Alan’s vision, hard work and determination, he was the youngest employee ever appointed to the company’s President’s Advisory Board.

 


Ancella Livers
President, Talent Dimensions

Ancella Livers is a skilled diversity and leadership development professional. She is the co-author of the book, Leading in Black and White and the HBR classic "Dear White Boss." She has also written numerous articles, chapters, and reports on equity, diversity, and inclusion.

In 1995, Ancella moved to the Center for Creative Leadership® to build and manage their African-American Leadership program. She later also managed the Center's Women's Leadership program. In her first 12 years at the Center, Ancella managed numerous leadership programs and left the organization as the Director of Global Open Enrollment programs. In 2007, Ancella became the Executive Director of the Institute for Leadership Development and Leadership for the Executive Leadership Council (ELC). The ELC is a membership organization for many of corporate America's highest ranking African American executives. While there, she not only built the Institute's facilitation infrastructure, but she also oversaw detailing research

Prior to her work in the diversity and leadership development field, Ancella was an assistant professor at the West Virginia University School of Journalism. She also spent a decade as a newspaper journalist and held roles as acting business editor and Capitol Hill reporter for Gannett News Service.

Ancella holds a B.S. in Mass Communications from Hampton University, a M.S. in Journalism from Northwestern University, and a M.A. and PH.D. in History from Carnegie Mellon University. She is also an executive coach and has served on several boards


Bobby Gordon

Bobby is Vice President of Client Relationships at PRISM International, Inc. where he manages a global portfolio specializing in assisting organizations and individuals in achieving organizational goals by leveraging diversity and inclusion.

Prior to PRISM, Bobby was a cultural diversity trainer with the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI) where he developed, revised and conducted training for managers and senior military leaders in communications, organizational effectiveness and conflict resolution. He facilitated in 30 states and US territories, Germany and South Africa.

Bobby received his Bachelor of Science in Liberal Arts from Excelsior College and a Master's of Science in Transformative Leadership from Bethune-Cookman University.  He is also a certified Equal Opportunity Advisor graduating from Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute.

Bobby lives in Daytona Beach and is an avid golfer and Harley Davidson enthusiast.  


Linda Stokes

Linda Stokes is President & CEO of PRISM International, Inc., an international consulting and training firm that helps organizations build inclusive and culturally competent teams by providing a comprehensive, strategic, enterprise--relevant diversity and inclusion process that benefits the organization, their employees and their customers. She leads a unique team of dedicated D & I professionals that apply their organizational and business experience, knowledge and passion for creating an inclusive workforce, workplace and marketplace.

Over the past 23 years, Linda has built PRISM into a firm that has served over two million employees in over 270 organizations in 24 countries. In 2005, she was recognized by the Orlando Women's Executive Council and received their Women's Achievement Award for Business. In addition to being an entrepreneur, she is an executive consultant, program developer, writer and contributor to media on matters of organizational strategic and tactical diversity and inclusion. She is the co-author of the groundbreaking Times-Mirror's book Multicultural Customer Service: Providing Outstanding Service Across Cultures. She is the innovative force behind the development of the Association of ERGs & Councils, the ERG & Council Honors Award™ and the ERG & Council Conference™.


Lynn Cowart
COO, Talent Dimensions

Lynn Cowart has extensive experience working and consulting in senior-level human resources positions for industries including financial services, aerospace, food service, and utilities. She has facilitated executive coaching, change management and strategic staffing initiatives for mid and senior level executives as well as career transition programs, retention and engagement strategies, assessment interviewing and training for all organizational levels.

As a consultant for Career Systems International, Lynn has led coaching programs and training events for an array of professional business clients. In addition, she has managed programs designed to instill culture changes within organizations by modifying behavioral tendencies within individuals

Lynn recently co-authored the book, 'Up is Not the Only Way - Rethinking Career Mobility' with Bev Kaye and Lindy Williams, challenging leaders and employees to re-imagine what it takes to achieve ultimate career success through a true mobility mindset.

Lynn received her MBA from the University of Connecticut. She also holds a Bachelor's degree in Business and Communications from SUNY at Buffalo in New York. In addition, she has worked with the University of Pennsylvania on an MS in Organizational Dynamics. She is Lumina Learning certified, International Career Consultant (ICC) certified as well as qualified in Myers Briggs (MBTI).


Michael Fosberg
Author & Actor, Incognito, Inc.

Chicago native Author, Actor Michael Fosberg has been working to create a national dialogue on race and identity since 2001 when he launched his one-man autobiographical play Incognito.

The author has used the unique presentation, along with engaging interactive training sessions and speeches, to embrace diversity in an effort to change corporate and organization culture.

He has been a frequent guest in the media speaking as an expert on race and identity issues.  His travels have taken him across the country facilitating meaningful conversations at educational institutions, corporations, government agencies and military bases.


Paul Mottola
Senior Consultant, PRISM International, Inc.

Paul is a Senior Facilitator with PRISM International, Inc. He is human resources consultant specializing in managing diversity and equal employment opportunity compliance (EEO).  He has over 25 years of human resource and personnel management experience.  Paul has worked extensively with the U.S. Department of Defense, and was the Deputy Director of External Training for the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute (DEOMI) in Cocoa Beach, Florida. As a Senior Facilitator with PRISM for 18 years, Paul has worked with clients around the world providing facilitation, consulting and program development.

He developed an international training course in strategic planning and policy writing for equal opportunity programs for the governments of the United Kingdom, Canada, South Korea and the Republic of South Africa.  Paul designed a two-day senior executive equal opportunity seminar that the Secretary of Defense mandated for all Department of Defense senior executives.  Paul was DEOMI's subject matter expert on affirmative action and gender integration.


Wil Lewis
Senior Vice President of Global Diversity & Inclusion, Bank of America

Wil Lewis is a Diversity & Inclusion Executive with accountability for Bank of America’s global military, disability & LGBT strategies.  Additionally, Wil has responsibility for the firm’s Global Employee Networks. In this role, he is responsible for 11 networks with more than 230 chapters in forty countries with 90,000+ members.

Prior to this role, Wil led Diversity & Inclusion for the bank’s Retail & Preferred & Merrill Lynch Wealth management businesses which encompassed more than 100,000 of the firm’s employees. 

Before joining the Diversity & Inclusion team, Wil was a Staffing Executive leading recruiting activities in Bank of America’s Retail Banking group.  Wil’s team drove recruiting activity for Bank of America’s nearly 5,800 banking centers across the US with over 25,000 hires a year.
