ORLANDO, Florida (August 17, 2010) -- The Association of Diversity Councils, a division of PRISM International, Inc., and the nation’s leading resource for diversity councils, announced today that it will begin accepting applications for the 2011 Diversity Council Honors Award™. This is the third year that the Association will recognize and honor the outstanding achievements of councils demonstrating diversity process leadership and results in their workforce, workplace and marketplace.
"Past award recipients help set the standard for excellence for diversity councils across the US," says Janice E. Bowman, President of the Association of Diversity Councils. She continues, "Recipients report that it helps secure budgets and resources and increases their personal and professional recognition, prestige, credibility, self-esteem and motivation. “Furthermore”, she adds, “it helps with council recruitment and retention and improves organizational visibility for their council and members."
2010’s Top 25 award recipients include a diverse combination of US corporations, federal governmental agencies and higher education institutions representing all sectors, geographies and organizational sizes. 2010’s Top 10 award recipients include: #1 Pratt & Whitney Rocketdyne; #2 Cisco; #3 Kaiser Permanente National Diversity Council; #4 Boehringer Ingelheim USA Corporation; #5 CSX; #6 Wipro Technology; #7 Cargill Women's Council; #8 US Navy Strategic Diversity Working Group; #9 Bayer Corporation; and #10 Prudential Financial.
The Top 25 award recipients say that receiving their award provided additional benefits that include:

Application is free and open to all US diversity councils in operation for at least two (2) years and who are responsible for achieving goals for the entire organization; or a council within a company that represents a specific line of business or business unit. Applications from distinctive multiple councils within one organization are allowed. Membership with the Association of Diversity Councils is not required. Online applications are evaluated by a panel of independent judges on contributions and achievements in four categories: Demonstrated Council Results; Demonstrated Management Commitment; Measurement and Accountability and Communication and Education.
All applicants receive a copy of the annual Report of Survey Findings compiled from the Top 25 councils’ applications. This important report not only provides statistical baseline data but also highlights innovative operating solutions and best practices implemented by Top 25 councils. NEW this year, top 25 award recipients will also receive a 1 year Association of Diversity Councils membership for up to 8 council members.
The Top 25 Diversity Council Honors Award™ recipients will be notified and announced in January, 2011. They will be recognized and awarded during the 2011 Diversity Council Honors Awards™ reception in the Spring and in INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine, a nationally distributed diversity publication read by 1 million people per issue.
