For Immediate Release
Orlando, Florida, November 13, 2008 - The Association of Diversity Councils announces the launch of the first annual Diversity Council Honors Award™. This award recognizes and honors the outstanding contributions and achievements of diversity council groups that lead diversity
processes in their organizations and demonstrate results in their workforce, workplace and
marketplace. Recipients of the award will set the standards of excellence for diversity councils in
the U.S.
The Diversity Council Honors Award™ was established to recognize the achievements of
councils at a national level. The collection of recognized results achieved by councils will serve as
a foundation for best practices for councils within and across industries. Access to such practices
will position councils to be more influential and effective in their organizations.
A panel of independent judges will evaluate online applications submitted by North Americanbased
operational councils that have been in operation for at least two (2) years and who execute
strategic tactics that originate from an Executive Council or Steering Committee. Award
recipients may be a Company Council, responsible for achieving goals for the entire organization;
or a council within a company that represents a specific line of business or business unit.
Applications from distinctive multiple councils within one organization are allowed.
Applicants will be evaluated on contributions and achievements in four categories: Demonstrated
Council Results; Demonstrated Management Commitment; Measurement and Accountability and
Communication and Education. Membership with the Association of Diversity Councils is not a
requirement to apply.
The top 25 Diversity Council Honors Award™ recipients will be announced and awards presented
during the Diversity Council Awards Reception at the 2009 Summit on Leading Diversity
Conference on the evening of March 17, 2009 in Atlanta.
An online application may be accessed by going to the Honors Award Page. All
applications must be submitted by midnight, December 19, 2008.
