The role of the Diversity and Inclusion Mentor is to impart wisdom, advice and guidance to Protégés. To prevent cloning, our belief is that Protégés need to be empowered-to use their diversity, creativity, ideas and initiatives to pursue their dreams of achieving success. With the mentoring process, like many aspects of diversity, there is never a "one size fits all" approach. However, a Mentoring Program must have a designated beginning and ending, be carefully planned and structured to ensure that intended results occur and have a definite business rationale or purpose.
The basis of PRISM's program is self-empowerment. The fundamental characteristic of an empowered individual is the acceptance of personal responsibility. An individual is empowered only to the extent he/she assumes a predisposed mindset of personal responsibility. Going beyond both self-imposed and external limitations expands personal empowerment. The process of empowerment is based upon letting go of unique self-limiting beliefs along with behaviors they produce that actually prevent success.
In addition, our program will:
- Augment training and development activities
- Attract and retain employees with needed skills and talents
- Provide an experience that contributes to leveraging the diversity within the organization
- Assist with succession planning
- Promote mentoring and coaching as an on-going responsibility of executives, managers, supervisors and protégés
PRISM's Mentoring Program consists of the following:
- One full day of classroom training for protégés
- One full-day training for mentors
- A Mentor Speaker Series
- The Mentor/Protégé Pairing Program
- A recognition/reward program for Mentors
